What do I make?

You're a nurse??

That's cool, I wanted to do that when I was a kid.

" What do you make?"
... ...
"WHAT DO I MAKE??"

I make holding your hand seem like the most important thing in the world when you're scared. I can make your child breathe when they stop. I can help your father survive a heart attack. I make myself get out of bed at 5am to make sure your mother has the medicine she needs to live. I work all .....................day to save the lives of strangers. I make my family wait for dinner until I know your family member is taken care of. I make myself skip lunch so that I can make sure that everything I did for your husband today is charted. I make myself work weekends and holidays because people don't just get sick Monday to Friday. Today, I might save your life. I make a difference, what do you make?"

What I Learned

Let's face it. Many of us choose to hang on to things that at some point have hurt us, angered us, made us feel sad, or depressed us. If we choose to hang on to them, we will never move forward and we could even create physical or medical damage to our bodies. To prevent this from happening we need to let go but no one really tells you how to let go and move forward. Sure it's easy to say: "Just let go, move forward, forget about it, just let go." But that really doesn’t work.

Having to deal with Ms. Mckenna not being there was tough enough. But our new teacher is not that bad. He teaches creative writing in a different way then how Ms. Mckenna usually teaches. We do more writing then just assignments every class. I've learned a lot since he started teaching. It actually feels like a creative writing class. What we do everyday in the beginning of class is free write half or a full page about anything that comes to mind and I thought that helped me express my writing technique in a lot of ways. We also created a blog to post things you would share from the internet. I think everything we been doing since October 15 has been really useful to me and really helped me express my writing deeply.  

Now What?

On January 18, I guess our creative writing class is having another new teacher. Mr. Good is already leaving and that's gonna suck. I feel like out of all the teachers at JDHS who I could actually understand and relate with is Mr. Good. He's only been here not even for a semester and is already leaving. Having to think about Mr. Good leaving isn't easy for me. I mean he's like one of the coolest/best teachers I've ever had. That's why I think it's going to be tough preparing myself for a new teacher. I'll eventually have to be ready for next semester and deal with what's coming to me. I hope our new teacher will be just as chill as Mr. Good was. I can first start off the semester with no absences to show that I am not a failure to show up to class and respect what the new teacher has to offer. I guess just show as much respect as I did to Mr. Good when he started teaching the class. And if I can do all those things and prove myself wrong, then I guarantee myself that I will pass creative writing.

I like this post because I can really relate to it. What is life really after high school? high school is when you're still around your parents and follow there rules. It's when you still don't have to be responsible with everything you do. Being responsible with everything you do isn't easy, believe me. When you pay your own rent and pay your own bills and stay out of trouble, that's when you know your responsible.

Fear the Unknown

This post is true. "To many times we leave a classroom with our brains ten times more full of information from our teachers and don't even care to stop and say thank you." It's true. Teachers are always there to help students no matter what it is that they're having trouble with. There helping us almost every week of the year so the least us student can do is stop and say thank you.
